Martha Made My Day!

You know you are getting old when you absolutely cannot wait for your CHINA CABINET to arrive. But in all fairness, Dave and I ordered this lovely gem from Macy's in late June, along with our new queen mattress (yes, we somehow have squeezed in a full-size for the last two years), so both are a long time coming. The cabinet apparently arrives in Chicago this week, and then all we have to do is schedule a delivery time.

It's the Martha Stewart Lily Pond East Hampton sideboard and hutch:

We own a loft, so I had a hard time finding something that was modern enough not to stick out like a sore thumb in our current digs, but to blend nicely into a more traditional home or dining room in the future. I love the dark wood matched with the pewter/silver hardware. So many were either brass, which would match nothing in our home, or just not the right stain. Plus, I love the light colored bead board on the back of the hutch, which make it a little more shabby than just chic.

Now I just need all the great china and crystal for which we registered!

About Me

I'm a St. Louis native, but I have been living in Chicago since 2005 and am loving every windy minute of it. I enjoy cooking (more-so eating), home decorating and really anything creative. I'm a supporter of DIY & handmade goods, a fledgling foodie and a connoisseur of kitsch. I spend my days filling online shopping carts, emptying them and repeating the process all over again. Most of all I love spending time with my husband, Dave, our first child, Claire and my dog, Louie.
