Love Nest

I can finally share the first framed fruit of my labor from my screen-printing class.

I started with one layer of a dark turquoise/jade green colored ink that I mixed and then I printed over it in white with a photo emulsion layer of a nest and the word "love" that I had designed in PhotoShop.

Next, I bought a simple and affordable white frame from Target and voila! We have a new, handmade piece for our bedroom/love nest!

I have a few more different prints from my course, but this is definitely my favorite. Most of the time was spent learning the techniques on the spot, so there wasn't a lot of concepting time to think about exactly WHAT I wanted the end product to look like. I do hope to take another course though soon, and now that I know the basics I can come armed with lots of other fun ideas.

I love it. It's clever, and it's beautiful.

About Me

I'm a St. Louis native, but I have been living in Chicago since 2005 and am loving every windy minute of it. I enjoy cooking (more-so eating), home decorating and really anything creative. I'm a supporter of DIY & handmade goods, a fledgling foodie and a connoisseur of kitsch. I spend my days filling online shopping carts, emptying them and repeating the process all over again. Most of all I love spending time with my husband, Dave, our first child, Claire and my dog, Louie.
